Acne is unarguably one of the oldest skin

Acne is unarguably one of the oldest skin problems, cutting across borders, colors or traditions. Acne is not limited to one culture or race, neither is it more prevalent in one country. The popularity of acne has perhaps, created a ready market for the millions of pharmaceutical companies worldwide, who make a fortune out of our desire to achieve an acne-free skin.

Unfortunately, millions of people worldwide jump from one acne medication to another, without first taking the pains to determine what is the root cause of their acne breakout. The causes of acne varies from one individual to the other, so also, does the severity of the condition. First determining the cause of your acne will help a lot in finding the best medication.

Generally, acne is believed to be caused by hormonal disorders, overactive sebaceous glands, or bacterial infection; resulting in pimples, scars and skin discoloration. Though, in some severe cases of acne, the cause is more difficult to determine, or is a combination of any of these factors. However, this form of acne requires more drastic measures than are discussed here.

Moreover, because of the sensitivity of the skin, it has been shown that using synthetic or chemical based creams, lotions or other products to treat acne will not only result in adverse effects like reddening of the skin, irritation, rashes and dried skin, it can also permanently harm the skin, depending on the constituent of the cream.

Treating acne with natural products have always been the best alternative. Natural acne products don't just treat the symptoms, they treat the root cause of the condition, resulting in a lasting solution. For instance, some natural acne medications contain vitamins A, B6 and C, along with minerals like Zinc. These vitamins and minerals will not only treat the acne, they also help you achieve a flawless skin.

Other useful herbal acne remedies include, rose hip oil, which clear acne blemishes, especially where excessive sun exposure is involved; facial masks with apple and honey; green tea; Ginger and milk or honey and cinnamon combination are all useful in treating acne. Also, herbs like basil and turmeric have been shown to be effective at treating acne.

However, it is important to say here, that, the market is full of acne products that claim to be 100% natural, promising instant acne relief. It is important that you do you research diligently, be sure what you are ordering is actually a natural acne product and that the constituents are actually effective at treating acne. Acne Ease is one natural acne product that I have tested and trusted.

Scalp acne can be a very distressing problem

Scalp acne can be a very distressing problem but it is also one that not a lot of people are aware of due to a lack of publicity. Scalp acne is not as common as some of the other types of acne such as facial acne but it is still very distressing for the sufferer. Although it is concealed to a certain extent it can be more obvious when it is at the edge of the hair.

Some types of scalp acne can be quite mild and many people will go to the pharmacist and buy something to use themselves for this. Although it is possible to have a very mild type of scalp acne, there are also more severe types that require treatment on a more professional basis. If you are at all worried about your scalp acne or if it is irritating then it is best to see a dermatologist. They can help you to choose the best way of treating it so that you do not suffer from too much itchiness.

Scalp acne can be just as irritating as any other type of acne to the sufferer and it can easily be made worse by using the wrong type of hair products. It is always best to ask the pharmacies for a recommendation before buying any hair care products if you think that you might have scalp acne. It is important to make sure that the hair is kept clean because too much oil on the scalp can also be bad for this type of acne.

One change that you can make yourself is to make sure that your diet is good. It is best to avoid too many fatty foods because they contain a lot of oil and this is not good for anyone that suffers from acne. You should try to eat a well balanced diet that has enough fresh fruit and vegetables in it and you should also avoid eating too many sugary things and make sure that you drink enough water.

If you think that you might be suffering from scalp acne then it is very important to see your dermatologist or doctor as soon as possible this way they can start to treat the condition before it gets any worse. These conditions are usually best treated as early as possible and if you see your doctor early then they can recommend you to a dermatologist

Acne, or pimples, is a really bad skin

Acne, or pimples, is a really bad skin condition that effects an individual's self esteem. It is not widely known that there are solutions available to treat the skin and get rid of those red dots. As well as that, people have false beliefs about it as well. Many think it will just go away one day. Yet sadly for many individuals, it can turn out to be a lifelong condition.

Just Exactly What Is It?

The skin on your facial area gets infected and the result is pimples forming. What happens is that bacteria enters through the pores of your skin. As the skin produces too much oil the bacteria have a nice warm and moist area in which to multiply. If the skin is not being exfoliated regularly, then dead skin cells become trapped and provide nutrition for the bacteria to feed on. As the skin reacts trying to get rid of the bacteria, pimples are formed.

Common Myths About Acne

Many myths surround what causes pimples to form. Foods like chocolate and greasy French fries for example have been blamed for pimples occuring. However, these have no real part in developing pimples at all. What does happen though is that they harm your body's ability to heal the infections. Usually, eating foodstuffs like that does not result in a healthy balanced diet. Without a balanced diet your body's ability to fight infections is diminished.

Pimples can be treated effectively today, and that is the good news. However, you will need to take the steps necessary in order to do so. By making use of medications and a good skin care regimen your problem can be lessened and even cured completely.

The face is where the pimples commonly appear. This of course damages your self esteem. But by dealing with the problem your self esteem will increase as the pimples disappear. Most everyone will have an episode of pimples during their lifetime, with varying severity, and it has nothing at all to do with being unclean or dirty. You just need to aid your skin in dealing with the problem.

Acne, is it a symptom of stress? The

Acne, is it a symptom of stress? The connection between acne and stress has been debated for a long time. To date, research on the subject have been limited with no real conclusions being reached. Recently, scientists conducted studies on a small group of students who suffered from acne. From those studies they were able to determine that acne did appear to worsen in situations of extreme stress such as when the students were preparing for final exams.

The fact that stress exasperates acne is not surprising to the millions who suffer from it. But, does stress cause acne? That has not been proven. Many people associate the appearance or worsening of their acne with a stressful time in their life.

What is known is that stress can cause your adrenal glands to produce the male hormones, testosterone and androgens. Yes, women's bodies do produce male hormones. These male hormones in turn, cause the sebaceous glands, located at the base of the hair follicles, to produce more sebum. The production of this oily substance, combine with dead skin cells, clogs pores and may trigger acne outbreaks.

One fact is not debatable. Acne may be a symptom of stress but...acne can cause stress too! Just ask a teenager who is avoiding a date due to new acne pimples 'popping up' over night or an adult frantically trying to 'cover' a huge new blemish just before a job interview.

Acne can have a very negative impact on a person's life. People with acne often suffer from embarrassment and low self-esteem. They fear that people will believe the myth that poor hygiene causes acne. There is absolutely no truth in that misguided notion yet many still believe it. Those people are uninformed.

In a world where so much value is placed on beauty, a poor complexion can lead to a devastating loss of self-confidence. Anger, frustration and depression may also occur sometimes leading to social withdrawal.

Since we know that the relationship between acne and stress does exist, stress management may be one effective way to help control acne outbreaks.
There are so many options available for acne treatment today that no one should have to isolate themselves to avoid embarrassment. Talk to your doctor. Discuss your feelings of anxiety and learn all that you can about acne. With a little emotional support and an effective skin care program, you can set yourself free.

Acne is no laughing matter for those who

Acne is no laughing matter for those who suffer from this ailment, but acne treatment does not have to be difficult to find. With some of the more common types, it can be relatively easy and cheap to resolve the condition, and with the more severe strains of acne it would be recommended to get a doctor's medical opinion.

However you choose to go about getting your acne diagnosed and cured, and making yourself the most informed about your condition as you can in order get help.

At first it can seem overwhelming to you to be afflicted with acne, especially in the case of the original bout with the acne, but by researching your ailment you allow yourself to get the best of all possible aids that you can find. When you leave out no detail for possible avenues of information, you can be assured that you can have confidence in finding and getting the solution that's right for you to use, but don't let all of the hype and advertising just force you to choose something ineffective.

There are many things to keep in mind when you have finally setting on the path to cure your acne. One of these methods is to realize that a resolution of any kind takes time, and there are no immediate or "miracle" cures to acne, all treatments take the proper time to be effective for the solution you choose to work well. Some other factors to consider is one solution that may work for a friend may not be the right one for you, and at this juncture, it is advised to consult with a dermatologist.

A dermatologist's professional medical advice will allow for you to make a more informed decision overall. They can prescribe stronger treatments for those cases that they've considered many influences about like the severity of the acne, co-existing conditions, and a patient's age, skin type, and lifestyle. Once these factors are considered, a dermatologist will have an easier time of prescribing a proper treatment for the severity of the ailments, and may recommend two or more of these.

Skin type and the kind of acne lesions present are some of the more important things when considering a solution, and the solution appropriate for one person you know may not be the most well-recommended solution for you, it may even make the condition worse if you are not careful in choosing the appropriate resolution.

Six to eight weeks is the average that it may take to see your acne clear up, but there are never any quick solutions to the problem of truly persistent acne problems.

With all these factors to consider, it can be perplexing for you to find a cure quickly, and with all the heavy advertising out there now it can be even more confusing and hectic an ordeal to go through. Though with a professional dermatologist's help, and the proper research before tackling any kind of a solution for yourself, you can be confident that you will best be suited to be able to find that treatment that will work for you. There is no "overnight" resolution for the problems of acne now.

I have been fighting my acne breakout battles

I have been fighting my acne breakout battles ever since I can remember.I eagerly tried everything that was coming into the market till one day it dawned on me that I had to make a change from the inside and no amount of outside creams, pastes, salts were going to help me.This awakening made me realize that I had to change my lifestyle if I wanted to stop acne for good. Iam happy to say that a few minor changes have helped me not only beat acne, but also improved my health and habits. As a bonus, the changes that I made totally changed me as a person and now I have increased stamina too.Try the under mentioned steps honestly for only 7 days..just one week... and watch the transformation you undergo.

Step #1: Use a glycerin based soap or face wash to clean acne:>
Glycerin based soaps are transparent. They are not made of animal or vegetable fats which aid in the oily feeling that your skin fels after you use them.I like to use Neutrogena products. They have helped me in my fight against acne.

Step #2: Regular Exfoliation to clear away the dead skin, blackheads and whiteheads:>
A bunch of methods to exfoliate the skin like alpha-beta hydroxy acids, microdermabrasion and a whole host of peels are being sold in the market. But instead I bought a natural orange or apricot based exfoliant cream. Use it twice a day to massage your face. This helps in scrubbing off the dead layers of your outer skin which breaks out into blackheads and bringing out your tender and acne free skin to the surface.

Step #3: Exercise helps the skin:>
Please exercise for at least 20 minutes a day. This allows your pores to open up and your skin gets unclogged. All the waste, poisonous substances that our body does not need is pushed out in the form of sweat. You do not have to join a Gym to get your exercise, just take the stairs at work or park the farthest away from the entrance or if you take the public transport like I do in Washington D.C, just get off 2 or 3 stops from your station. This forces me to walk a couple of blocks at a brisk pace.

Step #4: Eat plenty of greens and drink lots of water:>
You can do this in one simple step by just eating right. You don't have to go to the drug store to get your vitamins. Just include spinach, broccoli, squash, lettuce, citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons, and limes. Vegetables and fruits purple in color (blueberries, eggplant) are packed with antioxidants. Drinking plenty of water on a daily basis helps to maintain the skin's elasticity, and is simply just essential to the health of your body and skin. Drink at least 64 oz (2 liters) of water a day. Avoid drinking ready made juices (they are loaded with sugars).

Step #5: Cut the Sugar and Oil and watch your acne disappear.>
This step is vital. Get rid of the sugar and grease in your food. Just try it for a week and see the difference. Cut the sugar in your tea/coffee, trash the can of sodas, do not try the fries, chips or salted crackers. Lowering or even eliminating the sugar intake is one of the keys of maintaining a great skin.

Step #6:Steam and warm towel your face.>
Once you are back from work, play, school etc, just boil a container of water, drape a towel over you head and place your face in the way of the steam rising from the boiled water. This will help in unclogging the pores. Do this for 5 minutes at least. Now immerse the towel in the warm water and gently squeeze the water off it. Fold the towel and place it on you face for at least 10 more minutes.

Step #7: Try not to get into stressful situations and avoid the sun or use sunscreen.

This process will open up the pores and allow your skin to breathe. Do this for 7 days and you will find yourself with a healthy glowing face.

Are you having trouble with your complexion? Maybe

Are you having trouble with your complexion? Maybe that delicate face of yours is brandishing a few breakouts. You need to obliterate those nasty little bumps and do it with the utmost haste. Do you grab a bar of soap from the nearby shower and start scrubbing? That will dry them up, right? Well, sadly that will also wreak havoc on your entire face. Bar soap is simply not meant for the human face. It's time to pull up a few acne treatment reviews online. Find out what products will zap those zits the fastest.

I have read several different acne treatment reviews. I needed a great skin care regime for my eldest daughter. She sadly suffered from some severe acne breakouts. Acne treatment reviews helped me find a great acne remedy for her. I hated to see her in utter turmoil over her complexion. Being in school and suffering from acne can be very difficult. So it was off to the family doctor. Our doctor did know and understand very well skin disorders such as acne. In fact, she ended up prescribing my daughter Differin for her breakouts. In addition, she was given an oral prescription as well. Within a couple of weeks, her acne had reduced significantly. These days she is much more confident and able to mingle with her peers.

There are also many different over-the-counter acne treatments. Some work very well for mild cases of acne but not all of them are right for every case of acne. Your best bet is to talk to the pharmacist about the different acne treatments available. Better yet, do your research online first about the different acne treatments available. That way, when you do talk to your pharmacist or doctor, you will be better informed about them. This will help you decides whether an over-the-counter acne treatment will work as well as a prescription one. There are many sites online with acne treatment reviews.

Does your child suffer from severe acne? Or maybe you've been grappling with this burden your entire life. Either way, you can put an end to the countless days of depression. Jump online and check out a variety of acne treatment reviews. Find out what is the most commonly effective acne treatment available. There are several options out there. Whether you need something from an infomercial or a prescription from the local doctor, there's no time to lose. Take care of that acne dilemma before it gets worse.

One of the biggest no-nos for people suffering

One of the biggest no-nos for people suffering from acne: never EVER pop your pimples. Don't scratch, scrape, or otherwise try to smoothen out your facial skin all by yourself. Number one - it just won't happen. Number two - it's bound to make your facial skin worse. There will be scars, among other things, and it'll be hard to erase the evidence of your "self-medication" even after the acne outbreak stages of your life have passed. If you never attempted to take proper care of your skin during an acne outbreak, you'll find yourself looking into safe and effective acne scar removal options come the time.

There's something you have to remember, though, which may well be an incentive for you to take good care of your skin always: not all acne scar removal methods are 100% safe. For one thing, you may have allergies to certain chemicals that are otherwise indispensable for the appropriate procedure. Or, you may have hypersensitive skin, which will not react well to changes.

There are a couple of removal methods out in the market today - and the method most frequently recommended by doctors is laser treatments. Laser procedures are especially popular because of their lasting effect. After a successful round of laser treatments, a problem area will take time to experience a recurrence. Laser treatment is basically stripping away damaged areas of the top layer of your facial skin.

Other removal methods include injections - in particular, steroid and collagen injections. Sometimes, these injections are carried out in tandem with various other treatments or forms of surgery. These are very delicate operations and may require you to state if you are allergic to certain chemicals before they are carried out. The same goes for chemical peels. This particular method strips away the damaged top layer of the facial skin, making room for fresh new cells to grow.

Another rather crude but effective method for removing acne is dermabrasion. In a word: scraping. The doctor removes the damaged top layer of the skin with a medical instrument that's similar to an electric sander - and often, this comes with a modicum of pain. But once this is done with, there is plenty of room for healthy new skin to grow.

Before you ask your doctor for acne scar removal methods, be informed about your options. No one way is the ONLY way. If you have sensitive skin, especially, knowing your options would probably even save your life!

Whenever possible, you should use natural acne treatments

Whenever possible, you should use natural acne treatments to clear your acne. Natural treatments avoid the side effects and cost of expensive acne products and procedures. However, thats not all, if you continue to follow your natural regimen, you will continue to eliminate those conditions that cause you acne.

One of the worst problems associated with acne is scarring. This causes emotional stress that may be far worse than the physical problems associated with acne. When acne problems begin to surface, your first reaction is to spend more money on an acne treatment. That gets expensive.

The skin is the biggest organ of the body. It helps the other body organs to eliminate waste. Therefore, one of the best natural treatments for acne involves your diet. If you eat healthy foods, you will have a much better chance of avoiding acne breakouts.

On the other hand, if you eat a lot of junk food and chocolate, your skin will show it. Frequently, your skin is a reflection of an unhealthy inside. Instead of eating chips and chocolate, drink naturally sweetened fruit juices and lots of water. Consider foods that are lower in fat.

In addition to a change in your diet, avoid irritating your skin. Dont pick at your pimples or zits. Always wash your skin with a mild soap. Wear loose clothing so your skin can get as much air as possible. Try to avoid stressful situations.

Although it is true that some people will require medication, the majority of the people who suffer from acne will benefit from a natural acne treatment.

There are a lot of difficult things that

There are a lot of difficult things that children need to put up with when they go to school. Everything from bullies to difficult assignments from teachers (and perhaps a lot of homework) but something that seems so cruel that many children go through is problems with their skin. You probably remember your classmates that had skin problems when you were in school, the other children could be so terribly cruel. They would call them names like pizza face, and that hurts. Not only do they have to put up with the physical scars that acne can leave behind but they also need to deal with emotional scars left by their peers.

Fortunately we live in a day and age where there are some pretty good solutions for dealing with acne and skin problems. There are all sorts of treatments available from prescriptions chemicals that treat the problem as well as clearing up what acne is already found on your body to laser treatments that are new and upcoming in this particular field. Some of the better acne medicines work quickly and are highly endorsed by celebrities that also have to deal with skin problems and are in the public eye.

My favorite acne solutions, however, is a natural solution. My son came to visit me for the summer and he had a really bad skin problem. I feel that it was caused by the diet that he usually eats of greasy fast foods and soda. He really wanted to do something to help his acne so I took a look on the Internet and found some natural solutions. Some of the things that he did, on a daily basis, were to scrub his face with sea salt and vinegar, then let the solution sit on his face for a half hour before wiping it off. He also ate 2 slices of raw red beets and drank a warm cup of lemon water daily. This was to help clear his system of impurities so that his face would not continue to break out. It worked to a certain extent and a lot of the redness went away.

No matter what type of treatment you decide to use it's always best to ask the advice of a professional before trying anything erratic. Although natural treatments are fairly benign in nature you may have a reaction that you don't expect so make sure you discuss it with your dermatologist before doing anything out of the ordinary.

Acne is a skin condition which mostly affects

Acne is a skin condition which mostly affects teenagers, but has also been known to affect people in every age range from childhood to adults. Acne is usually associated with inflamed, red, blotchy skin, pimples and, in severe manifestations, cysts (hence the term cystic acne). It can also consist of clogged pores, both white and black comodomes (also called whiteheads and blackheads). Acne not only affects ones skin, but also affects ones mental outlook on life. Acne is a serious disease or condition and there are some great home remedies you can do to halt or limit its progression.

One obvious rule of thumb that pretty much everyone can agree on (including doctors and dermatologists) is that picking or squeezing pimples and or cysts is not good and can result in permanent scarring. Picking and squeezing acne of any form will damage the skin worse than it already is. Professionals, like dermatologists, may use a lancet to open a cyst or puss filled pimple as this will allow drainage and treatment of the acne causing bacteria. Per Dr. Howard Mann:

Acne is the result of clogged pores, which cause the hair follicles and sebaceous glands to become inflamed and infected. Areas that are particularly susceptible to acne include the chest, back, shoulders, neck, and face.

Pimples and acne should not be picked at or squeezed to minimize the risk of scarring.

One important home remedy is cleanliness and the use of gentle cleansers. Harsh soaps tend to dry out the skin and can actually cause the over production of sebum or oil worsening the condition. What is better is to use a mild cleanser like Cetaphil or its generic equivalents. This will clean your skin and remove excess oil without overdrying your skin. Mild cleansers are also usually hypoallergenic so as to minimize any disturbance to acne inflamed skin. It is also important to make sure all makeup and similar products are removed before bedtime.

Proper hydration is also a key home remedy for acne. If your skin is not properly hydrated it can not properly cleanse itself or exfoliate properly and could end up in clogging the pores. Clogged pores are the leading factor in acne and proper hydration will minimize this. It is advised to drink atleast 6 to 10 glasses of water per day. Proper hydration will also improve your skins health and its ability to fight or ward off infection.

Another popular at home remedy that has only recently been made available is skin peels for increased skin exfoliation and treatment of acne bacteria. Stronger skin peels, like TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) remove acne bacteria from deep inside the pores and return the skin to its natural pH or acidity level. They will increase exfoliation and, basically, make your skin an environment that is non conducive to acne bacteria. TCA peels have actually been found in studies to be as effective as Accutane, the strongest acne medicine available, without any of the horrible side effects. Doctors and dermatologists have been using TCA peels, like the infamous Obagi Blue Peel by Dr. Obagi, to treat and heal acne prone skin and resultant scarring.

Acne and hormones- Acne is caused by the

Acne and hormones-

Acne is caused by the excess production of sebaceous glands. These glands also begin shedding more dead cells at the same time and block the gland forming acne. Hormones control all these. Can we not do anything about them to keep acne away? Let us find out.

Hormonal changes-

We undergo lot of hormonal changes during our puberty. The male hormones- androgens that are found both in males and females cause excess production of sebum. These hormones are found in much lesser quantity in women. After puberty, women undergo lot many hormonal changes during pregnancy and because of birth control pills. But men do not experience these hormonal changes.

What about adult acne?

It is accepted that women may get acne because of hormones in adult hood, but why do men get acne in adulthood? There must be some associated hormonal change or some other reason.

Acne in adult men-

Men do not undergo hormonal changes after puberty for many years. There is something called male menopause, but one does not hear of men getting acne at that age. Why people still keep on getting acne? It seems that in some men the hormones remain actively changing for a longer period and they have some tendency to form acne at a later age also. One must consult the doctor to find out about what can be done to control hormones to stop acne formation.

Just because you never experienced acne during your

Just because you never experienced acne during your youth, doesnt mean you wont have to face it as an adult. Research shows one out of four adult men and one out of two adult women will experience some type of acne in their adult life.

No one seems to agree on what causes acne in adults, but one thing is clear. Acne is always associated with hormones. These hormones are essential to the development of the oil glands of your skin. Children dont experience acne, because their hormones arent mature.

Any time your hormones become unbalanced, you run the risk of an acne breakout. Researchers agree that acne is caused by androgens. These are male hormones found in both men and women. These hormones create excess oil. In turn, this excess oil can clog the hair follicles and allow bacteria to grow. When this occurs, acne pimples and blemishes appear.

Women generally experience hormonal acne because of the normal female cycles like menstruation, pregnancy and menopause. This is why some types of birth control pills help control acne by keeping the androgens balanced. However, consult your doctor before considering this treatment. Every one is different. All treatments do not produce the same results for different people.

Many adults have experienced success in clearing their acne by using a simple three-step regimen.

Benzoyl Peroxide Kills Acne Bacteria
First, get a 2.5% solution of benzoyl peroxide. Apply this to a small part on your skin to test your skins reaction. Although most people have no problems with benzoyl peroxide, some do. Once you know its ok, gently apply this to your affected skin.

Avoid Irritating Your Skin
Always be gentle when working with your skin. Irritation only increases your acne problems. Avoid harsh scrubbing, picking or pinching your pimples, etc. If you skin is already irritated, take a few days and let it settle down.

Use a Gentle Skin Cleanser
Wash your face and acne affected skin with a gentle cleanser. Avoid using regular bath soap or cleansers that overly dry your skin.

Finally, use a gentle moisturizer to keep your skin from drying out and to minimize irritation. With a little consistency and time, many adults can clear their adult acne following this simple treatment.

Adult acne on the loose! Having acne is

Adult acne on the loose!

Having acne is a hassle for teens. But how about adult acne?

The teens are not the only one suffering from acne outbreak, adults too! A report done by dermatologists shows that there had been an increasing number of women developing adult acnes. Worse is that some of them had these adult acnes for the first time in their lives.

Teens used to think that their acne would just disappear for some time. But unlike what the teens think, adult acne appears to be on the increase among older women.

People with adult acne tend to have increasing sensitivity, therefore producing more oil than the usual. The cells that line the hair follicle become sticky and, instead of being shed in the normal way, gradually block the duct so that oil and dead skin cannot escape.

Inflammation was formed when bacteria propagate around blockage. Exposure to the air causes discoloration to the follicle with waste materials thus producing blackheads.

Whiteheads, on the other hand, are formed when the bacteria breaks down through the trap oil causing pus. Red blemish indicates more severe inflammation.
The possible causes of adult acne are not known for sure. Although heredity may take part. Also, the reason for the increase of the late-onset adult acne is not clear until now.

Stress is thought to be the main cause of adult acne, because it increases the production of male hormone known as androgen.

Another factor is the excessive use of oral contraceptives which contains progesterone.
Alison Dudley, the chief executive of the Acne Support Group one said that It is a myth that chocolate and fried foods make adult acne worse, however, a good balanced diet will improve your general well being and this will be reflected in the condition of your skin.

Hormonal change before menstruation and during pregnancy increases the risk of adult acne. Also, hot temperature and high humidity made yield the same effect.

Another myth says that poor hygiene causes adult acne. Sufferers tend to wash their faces to clear away excess oil more frequently than those with clear skin. They dont know that over-washing can dry the skin and make the condition worse.

The Acne Support Group advises using a pH balanced soap or facial wash at least twice a day.

Moisturizers can also help in lowering the secretion of oil in our skin. Also, when applying make-up, choose oil-free cosmetics and remember to always wash it away before going to bed or if you cant afford oil-free cosmetics, you must keep your make-up to the minimum.

There are many facts about the causes of adult acnes. Here is just some of which:

1.Adult acne usually begins with blackheads

Blackheads are not dirt, they're actually the result of oil & dead cells getting trapped in a pore, block the duct & mix with bacteria. Exposure to the air discolors them to black. Blackhead inflammation causes red pimples and it spreads when touched with dirty hands. When the pimple becomes infected, it develops a whitehead or pustule. These can break & cause scars.

2. There are several causes of adult acne these are:

Stress, bad cosmetics, hormones & birth control pills.

Stress causes your oil glands to produce more oil. Bad cosmetics lead to bacteria-loaded pores. Hormones cause the oil glands to exaggerate & birth control pills with androgen in them can cause breakouts.

3. Cheese & chocolate have nothing to do with adult acne

What do you do need to do is get a good facial. Why? Because acne is not a disease, it is a condition of the skin & a good facialist knows exactly what your skin needs: sulfur, zinc & camphor masks, exfoliation, blackhead extractions & at-home follow-up.

Acne remedies that are found in nature Acne

Acne remedies that are found in nature

Acne is a big skin problem nowadays by teens and adults. Here are some acne remedies that can be found naturally:

1. Amaranth

Make a tea from amaranth seeds and use as a face wash. To make the acne remedy bring 3 cups of water to a rolling boil, add 2 teaspoons of seeds, cover and simmer for five minutes; remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon of leaves (if available) and steep for 30 minutes.

2. Basil

To make acne remedy, obtain basil-based oil from your health food store and apply it as directed. Another way is to get the actual herb and make an infusion. To make an infusion, put two to four teaspoons of dried basil leaves in a cup of boiling water, steep for 10 to 20 minutes, cool, and apply to the acne.

3. Burdock

The herb burdock (Arctium lappa), is effective as acne remedy and is the most important herb for treating all forms of chronic skin problems. To make the tea, bring 1 quart of water to a boil, reduce to simmer, add 4 teaspoons of cut, dried root; cover and let simmer for 7 minutes, then remove from heat and let steep for 2 more hours. Use as a skin wash.

4. Calendula

It can be made into tinctures, lotions and creams. Look for products containing this herb. Make a tea of calendula and wash your face. This can be your acne remedy

5. Oregon grape (Mahonia aquifolium)

It has antibiotic properties and helps stimulate the immune system. To make your own acne remedy take one of the following three times daily: tea from dried root (2-4 grams); tincture (6-12 ml or 1.5-3 teaspoon); fluid extract (1-2 ml or 0.25-0.5 teaspoon); solid powder of 8-12% alkaloid content (250-500 mg.).

6. Tea

There are several other herbs that can be made into a tea and taken internally or used as a wash. Besides aloe and burdock, calendula, chickweed, dandelion, red clover, white oak bark, yellow dock, cayenne, Echinacea, ginseng, Redmond clay, sarsaparilla, and valarian may be used as acne remedies.

7. Tea tree oil

It is derived from the leaves of the native Australian Melaleuca alternifolia tree contains antiseptic compounds that are a very effective skin disinfectant. Depending on severity, use 5-15% solutions twice daily. It is an effective acne remedy as 5% benzoyl peroxide and is less drying, although it may take a little longer to work.

These herbal acne remedies can be effective to you. But you must choose the best one for you before trying something else.

A consultation with your dermatology can also help with your acne remedy. Experts always know what is best for their patients. Ask them about what are the things that can irritate your skin so you may have some help in choosing an acne remedy.

Always keep in mind that every acne remedy has its own side effects. These side effects can be good or bad. The only thing is you must know them first before trying on an acne remedy.

Do not always rely on chemical acne remedies because they have more side effects than natural acne remedy.

Do not believe on what TV commercials tell you. Remember, they just want you to buy their product for profit.

Just remember that the best way to have a clear skin is by avoiding harmful substances that may irritate your skin. In this case, you may not anymore need an acne remedy.

I'm 30, Why Acne Now?

It is becoming more and more common for young women who had no problem during teen years to develop adult acne between ages 30-35. There are probably many reasons. One significant reason is related to the use of birth control pills.

Birth control pills utilize two hormone groups that are synthetically made to mimic the ovarian cycle/ovulation processes that are normally at work only during pregnancy. Specifically, birth control pills trick the ovaries into thinking that the lady is already pregnant, so ovulation does not occur. These synthetic hormones in most birth control pills have strong Androgenic (male hormone) side effects upon sebaceous gland production of oil in the skin, often causing oil production to increase.

Another possible reason for getting acne at the age of 30 might relate to hormone adjustments after a pregnancy, nursing a child, or simply experiencing the stressful lifestyle so prevalent today with all the demands and time limits we impose on ourselves.

Men can also still have acne symptoms at age 30, although it is unlikely that adult acne will develop then for the first time. We are all still subjected to stress, and some men may skip the gentle cleansing of facial areas after sports, etc., causing acne to occur. So adult acne can still be a problem.

Will Reversion cure adult acne? Yes! Many men and women, who have experienced acne as children, can still benefit from the Reversion Acne Control System. Some people assume that expensive prescriptions are required to cure adult acne but our two-part system is guaranteed to improve all forms of acne.

Do Men or Women Have Worse Acne?

Interestingly enough, anyone you ask about the severity of their acne feels they have the worst acne in the world. In actuality, men usually have more problems with scarring in the long term with acne because they have more oily-prone skin and certainly skin that is of a thicker nature. When an infected acne lesion occurs in a man's skin, the sheer thickness of skin and the factors involved in the healing process often delay healing, which may lead to more permanent, visible scarring.

On the other hand, women experience more changes in their sex hormone concentrations due to monthly cycles. As a result, women are more likely to have acne at a certain age or at certain times than men. Both women and men have a higher risk of getting acne in the teenage or active hormone years than do men or women over age 30.

Acne Scars Beware! People sometimes became irritated with

Acne Scars Beware!

People sometimes became irritated with their acne that is why they prick them. They are unaware that by doing so they are just opening their skin to more bacteria and causing more acne. Worse is after the acne is pricked, acne scars develop.

We all know that acne is the inflammation due to clogged pores. It is present in every country and every culture.

In the US, acne is mainly the effect of teenage stress. More than eight percent of the American teens are likely to have acne. However, it also affects a number of adults and also infants.

There are various types of acne that range in irritation, harshness, and healing time. The most severe type of acne may even lead scars that if not treated properly, may be visible for a lifetime. If you or someone is troubled by severe acne, here's what you need to know about acne scars and what you need to do to avoid and care for them.

Contact with an oily substance such as mineral oil, vegetable oil, or petroleum is a potential cause of acne, and also use of certain medication and steroids. However, acne is most often cause by the secretion of androgens. Milk or dairy products, red meat and fast food also aggravate acne.

Androgens are hormones that are initially secreted at the beginning of puberty. They are male hormones but females secrete them as well. Androgens stimulate the production of oil from the skin's oil glands. Acne occurs when these overactive oil glands become blocked, causing the oil to build up in the gland and swell.

Bacteria acnes normally colonize this swollen gland causing the development of inflammation and pus. In particularly severe cases, the glands may burst into the skin and produce cysts. These cysts when pricked may cause acne scars.

The most important rule for acne sufferers to remember is that you should never pick or squeeze acne blemishes. This can lead to the spread of acne and the development of acne scars.

Herbs work naturally with the body to reduce acne blemishes and prevent the development of acne scars. Echinacea and pokeroot are often used for their anti-inflammatory properties and red clover may be beneficial for its estrogenic action. Witch hazel has excellent astringent properties and may be very effective on acne.

If you already have acne scars, do not just treat it as an ordinary scar. Here are just some ways on relieving acne scars:

1. Acupuncture

A certain channel of the face is said to be the cause of acne. Acupuncture performed on these points of the face may help relieve acne, and prevent the development of acne scars.

2. Surgery

In moderate to severe cases of acne, doctors may use surgery to open up the blemishes and remove blackheads and whiteheads. Unlike medication treatments, the effects of acne surgery are usually more immediate. And surgery is also effective in reducing the development and visibility of acne scars.

3. Cleaning the intestinal Tract

Acne can be a by-product of a filthy intestinal tract and colon. In most cases when the colon is clean the acne will go away.

Acne scar treatment may be different for every person. It depends on the harshness of the acne scar. The decision is yours. How will you treat your acne scar?

Can Using A Dirty Washcloth Cause Acne?

Using a dirty washcloth does not cause acne. However, if you have acne and then repeatedly use the same unclean washcloth for cleansing, the bacteria that remains on the cloth may spread and cause new breakouts and could possibly make your existing breakouts worse.

We recommend that you launder your washcloths at least every other day. It is also helpful to wash other items frequently that come into contact with your acne, such as pillowcases, sheets, and comforters.

More than likely, if you are a teenager going through puberty, when male or female hormones are still changing randomly and haphazardly, your acne will go away when hormone levels become more consistent.

During pregnancy, it is also very common for acne problems to become more prominent and suddenly, after pregnancy, seem to disappear. This again is related to hormonal changes related to normal body physiology.

Most patients who suffer from acne as teenagers can expect acne to become less active in their mid to late 20's as hormone levels become more consistent and teen stress begins to subside. However, 30% of adults do continue to suffer from acne, making it important for them to find the best acne treatment available. Reversion Acne Control can help those who suffer from adult acne by presenting a long term solution to acne breakouts.

T-zone, the acne picture You may think that

T-zone, the acne picture

You may think that acne outbreak is evenly distributed on your face.

Well, thats not the case. The area in the face called T-zone is the most susceptible part to acne. It is the acne picture.

The acne picture or T-zone is located on the face extending from the top middle part of the forehead and across from left to right in the shape of the crossbar of the T. The zone continues down past the nose and onto the chin in the shape of the base of a T. This area is where acne breakouts occur first and if controlled causes little alarm.

Reasons for the outbreaks in this area are numerous. Here are some of them:

1. Constant touching of the face with dirty hands. People have no idea how many times a day they touch their faces, but once aware of the condition begin to break the habit. Touching or rubbing worsen acne on the face and brings more outbreaks. Because of this you are making the best acne picture.

2. Stress is a factor in acne pictures and the first place you find a pimple is either on the chin or nose. The T zone is most sensitive and the flare-up will spread quickly throughout this area if not kept clean.

3. The T zone is where you will find most of your acne due to the amount of oil and bacteria that collects there. The contour of the face is enabling bacteria and oil to congregate in the crevices and corners around the eyes, lips, chin and corners of the nose.

4. Almost everyone has more than one skin type in the T zone.

Everyones skin is different and in the T zone most people have all the skin types somewhere along the entire strip. You will find a combination of oily, dry or normal skin.

Controlling acne in the zone may be cumbersome using different methods on various spots, but in order to control outbreaks a routine needs to be followed. Here are some tips to control acne picture.

Wash your face gently using plenty of warm to hot water with extra clean fingertips. Use a mild soap that contains no oil-based ingredients. Wash at least twice a day. If you finish your regimen with cold water, it will help shrink the pores and close anything that is open.

Dry your face with a clean towel or sterile gauze square after it is washed. Rubbing will spread any infections as well as remove any natural moisture that needs to remain on the face.

There are antibacterial cleansers and sealers available across the counter or from makeup specialists to use after washing. This activity closes the pores and protects the face, back, arms or chest from the environment.

Hydrate your skin, especially in the winter to maintain moisture and neutralize the skin types.

If you have oily skin, wipe the oil from the T zone and keep it freshened.

Before running off to buy any acne product

If you have acne, you do not just get the first acne treatment product you see in the grocery. Chances are, things will just get worst instead of getting better.

There are things you should take into consideration first before choosing an effective acne product. What are these?

1. Know your skin type.

People with oily skin should choose a gel-based product. Those with dry skin should choose a cream.

If you are like those people who have a combination skin, choose the acne product that best works with the afflicted area. If your acne flares up in the oily spots, choose a gel. But if it is the dry skin that gets the zits, choose a cream.

2. Some mild creams can be used as a preventative measure. But most acne creams are too harsh to be used before you see or feel a zit. Read the labels carefully and only apply the medication to places that are acne prone or those that already have acne.

3. If the acne is extremely painful, or if it becomes painful after trying on any acne product, try taking an anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen. Then go consult a doctor immediately.

4. If your skin has large pustules that appear in clusters, you may require treatment by a doctor. This is especially so if the acne is painful, causes scars, and if you cannot seem to get rid of a blemish.

Medicated acne products versus natural acne products.

Medicated acne products contain a chemical that dries up the pimple while acting as an exfoliant at the same time.

The most common ingredients used for this purpose are benzoyl peroxide and salycic acid. People with sensitive skin should choose a product that contains salycic acid over one containing benzoyl peroxide.

The amount of drying chemical added to a product is measured in terms of percentage. Stronger creams have a higher percentage or concentration of the active ingredient.

Contrary to the "more is better" belief, the highest concentration is not always the most effective. Take note that it will all depend on your skin type and the sort of acne you are dealing with. Some acne will not respond well to these acne products and must be treated by a doctor, dermatologist or skin specialist.

Natural acne products contain a variety of naturally occurring ingredients, usually plant extracts that work to dry up the pimple and sooth the effected area.

Most of these products are blends of natural ingredients like Vitamin E, grapeseed oil, calendula, aloe vera or witch hazel and essential oils. But there are a few essential oils that work well in treating acne when used alone or with a single carrier oil.

Natural treatments contain ingredients to dry the blemish, sooth the redness and add moisture to the irritated area. It is important to note that just because a product is natural does not mean that it is mild.

People with sensitive skin should be every bit as careful when using a natural treatment as they are when using one that is medicated.

Natural products can be very irritating to sensitive skin and can even cause reactions in people with allergies like hay fever. As with medicated treatments, if a natural treatment makes the acne worse or causes a painful reaction you should stop using that acne product and see a doctor right away.

Do not carry the oils from your hair onto your face by running your hands through the strands and then touching your face. Germs, skin flakes and bacteria rest in your hair and can be transmitted to your sensitive acne areas.

Acne picture in the T-zone can be prevented with the right regimen and habit.
