Eating chocolate does not cause acne. The only way for chocolate to cause acne would be to rub chocolate on the skin until it clogs the pores, causing a mechanical blockage of the pore openings. Then you could legitimately say that chocolate causes acne. Some studies in the past indicated perhaps that excess amounts of some iodine-containing foods, such as shellfish, could influence the severity of acne. This has been questioned by a number of other recent studies. Our recommendation is to eat, drink and be merry in moderation. Until these studies prove us wrong, we cannot say that chocolate causes acne.
